Liv Tyler has revealed her skincare routine that keeps her skin looking youthful and wrinkle-free - and it involves a whopping 25 steps.

The 42-year-old actress and model shared her extensive routine in a video for Vogue, during which she revealed that she was inspired to take care of her skin by her model mother Bebe Buell, 66, and her grandmother.

'The more I do this stuff, the better I feel inside,' Liv said in the video, as she shared each step of her routine that combines self-care and beauty.

Liv's first step in the lengthy routine is tying her hair up away from her face using a scrunchie.

Speaking in the video, she said: 'I'm a big fan of scrunchies because someone once taught me that you can rip your hair out a lot when you use elastic bands in your hair, so even the way you tie it back is important.'

Liv, who began modelling at the age of fourteen before pursuing a career in acting, then embarked on the skincare regime, using a Sarah Chapman Skinesis Ultimate Cleanse ($75) to wash her face and remove her makeup.

She then used Chidoriya Hydrating Facial Soap ($14) to wash her face a second time. Liv lathered the bar of soap in her hands before gently scrubbing her face.

'To me the secret to beautiful skin is exfoliation,' she said, 'and keeping all the dead skin cells sort of buffed off your skin.'

She used the Astara Blue Flame Purification Mask ($42), which she says is an 'old favorite'.

As she placed the mask on her face, she said: 'I guess my obsession with skincare comes from when I was a little girl.

'My grandma would get me out of the bath and lay me down, and she would moisturize my skin.

'And that was even when I was like six that I remember that. She said "you have to moisturize every day to keep your skin beautiful and well taken care of",' she added.
